Welcome to Hughenden Public School
Hughenden Public School is located in the Village of Hughenden. Hughenden is a thriving central eastern community located 250 km east of Edmonton on Highway 13. The town of Wainwright, with abundant retail outlets, is 40 km away.
The economic base of Hughenden is closely tied to the agriculture and petroleum industries. This great rural Alberta community features an attractive golf course, arena, bowling alley, ball diamonds and soccer for your recreation needs. A short 5-10 minute drive away takes you to the villages of Amisk and Czar that each have curling rinks with active leagues all winter long. There are several lakes in the area for your various water sports and camping interests. The community of Hughenden prides itself on being a safe and friendly community to live in.
Hughenden School offers full programming with excellence in learning experiences to approximately 225 Grade 4 to 12 students in a modern facility. At the High School level this is done through the use of additional support structures like videoconferencing, BTPS partnership with Lakeland College and Students’ On Line programming. Many additional programs are provided to students like leadership classes, Dare to Care, green certificate, registered apprenticeship program, work experience and elementary French to enhance student learning experiences. We have a fully equipped CTS Construction Trades Lab; IMAC Photo Lab; SMARTboards in many classrooms and brand new computers for the start of the 2009-10 school year. The school is an integral part of the community and, in partnership with the school council, parents, community agencies and the public, offers a complete range of both academic and non-academic subjects in a safe and caring environment. Hughenden School jointly considers educational planning with the Grade K-3 School in Amisk.
